Empty storefronts often register as negative space in the broader cultural context of the architectural landscape. It stands as a relic of “failed architecture,” regarded as without relevant narrative until the plastic, laminate wood, or brown paper comes down.

These woven illusions of transparent glass reflections and opaque pieces of paper remain dream-like, whether a water stain or the ghostly shadow of houses float to the surface, trees and sky waver on the verge of disappearing or materializing.
